Whether it’s an account, card with mobile payment, savings accounts, payments or pensions – Zak is a simple and clear app that helps customers keep track of their finances. And all this directly and entirely digitally on their smartphone. Zak is offered by Bank Cler, a 100% subsidiary of Basler Kantonalbank. Bank Cler focuses on the needs of private customers, private banking and real estate customers throughout Switzerland.
Customers’ demands on their bank are constantly increasing. Everything needs to be quick and easy to do from anywhere, simple to use and, of course, secure.
Netcetera took over the technical responsibility for Zak in 2020 with the aim of comprehensively developing the app and meeting increasing requirements as well as growth in new customers. The main priorities were the migration to a new, stable technical basis, the addition of various features and adaptation to regulatory requirements.
True to the motto “Write once, run everywhere”, the development followed a cross-platform approach, whereby the app was developed with only one code base – for Android and iOS. Thanks to this hybrid approach, future features can also be delivered in fast development cycles and development costs kept as low as possible.
To modernize the Zak app, onboarding along the new customer journey was implemented on the one hand, and on the other, security was improved with the introduction of two-factor authentication (2FA) according to the current security standard. With eBill, QR-bill and instant payments, the standard functions in Swiss payment transactions have been implemented and regulatory requirements such as the questionnaire on the Money Laundering Act (AML) have been integrated.
The “pots” on the home screen and various personalization options ensure optimized user guidance. The use of various new features also ensures high customer satisfaction: In addition to the expansion of the self-service functions, a savings account, cashback provider and partner offer of an insurance company were implemented.
A sophisticated caching mechanism also significantly reduces data traffic to the server, and a concept that only loads data when it is actually in the visible area of the app makes the app significantly faster.
Thanks to a Netcetera development team fully integrated with Bank Cler, the communication paths are short, and the app can be further developed quickly and dynamically using agile working techniques and tight release cycles. Netcetera’s broad UX expertise also ensured that the Zak product has undergone a successful upgrade and will continue to be further developed in the future.
